What was Woodstock?

Woodstock was the largest music festival in 1969. With 400,000 in attendance it was the closest the hippies had come to achieving and perfecting the hippie ideal.
The hippies had proven to the world that a half a million people could come together for 3 days of peace and music without violence, guns, police, or riots.
