This iconic logo started out as stencil art originally used to mark the Grateful Dead's equipment while on tour in 1969. It soon appeared on the album cover of 1972's \"History of the Grateful Dead, Volume One: Bear's Choice\"\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0);\"\u003eThe name Steal Your Face Skull (or \"Stealie\") comes from the 1972 song \"He's Gone\". One of the lyrics, \"steal your face right off your head\", was originally about the band's former manager who had stolen money from the band.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: center;\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph mk ml gt mm b mn mo mp mq mr ms mt mu mv mw mx my mz na nb nc nd ne nf ng nh gm bj\" id=\"7f45\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0);\"\u003eFans took it as having your “face stolen” by the music.
